Box Score Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Medaille College on Sunday afternoon despite controlling the majority of play throughout the second half.
The host Mavericks put the pressure on early, but the Mounties responded strong defensively as
Zara Apakoh made three saves in the first half to keep things scoreless heading into the halftime break.
The Mounties controlled play early on in the second half as
Olivia Hannan and
Olivia Woodley each had chances in front of the Medaille goal, but were unable to convert. Woodley got behind the defense in the 65th minute of play but was called for offsides.
The Mavericks broke the deadlock in the 83rd minute as Medaille scored on a free kick from just outside the box.
Elizabeth Josephson had the Mounties final chance on a free kick in the closing minutes, but her shot went wide.
The Mounties return to action on Wednesday for their final non-conference match of the season at home against Juniata College at 3:30 p.m.
