Box Score Cresson, PA - Despite a 10-5 advantage in shots and a number of opportunities close to goal, the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net and were defeated by Hilbert 1-0 at home in an AMCC match on Saturday afternoon.
The lone goal of the game came in the 20th minute as Hilbert's Jennifer Colvin knocked in a shot off the bounce after a long throw-in from the sideline. The Mounties pressed in the first half to find the equalizer but Hilbert maintained the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Olivia Woodley and
Elizabeth Josephson both had free kick attempts close to goal in the second half, but Woodley's went just wide and Josephson's was saved by Hilbert keeper Grace Adams. The Mounties pushed forward in the game's closing minutes but were held off the board.
Woodley led the Mounties offensively with five shots, three of which were on goal. Josephson registered two shots, and keeper
Zara Apakoh made two saves in net.
The Mounties return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Pitt-Greensburg. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
