Box Score Greensburg, PA - After giving up two penalty kick goals and playing a man down for over 35 minutes, the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team ultimately fell in overtime by a score of 3-2 to Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday afternoon.
Greensburg got on the board first after a Mount Aloysius foul at the edge of the box resulted in a penalty kick opportunity in the 30th minute. The Mounties responded right away as
Maggi Ferguson scored her first collegiate goal just over five minutes later on a long shot that bounced over the Greensburg keeper. Less than four minutes later,
Olivia Woodley knocked home an
Elizabeth Josephson free kick into the corner to give Mount Aloysius a 2-1 advantage.
After a Mountie red card in the 63rd minute, the visitors played extremely tough defensively while a man down. In the 74th minute, an apparent hand ball in the box resulted in a second penalty kick for Greensburg that tied the game at 2-2.
Mount Aloysius continued to play hard and forced overtime. In the 99th minute, Greensburg's Courtney Carroll drove in a shot to the far corner to win it for the home side.
Woodley registed four shots to lead Mount Aloysius offensively. Goalkeeper
Zara Apakoh recorded six saves on the day.
The Mounties return to action Saturday with a home contest against Pitt-Bradford at 1 p.m.
