Softball Sweeps Chatham

Pittsburgh, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team swept Chatham in a non-conference doubleheader on Thursday afternoon, winning 4-3 in game one before a 10-1 victory in the second game.

In game one, the Mounties scored the first four runs of the game in their first three at-bats. McKenzie Moore recorded an RBI single in the first, and Jalisa Westover produced an RBI with a sacrifice fly in the second that brought home Brandie Mott. The Mounties doubled their lead in the third inning as Alexandria Teeter scored off of an error, and Danielle Hart scored off of a groundout.

Chatham scored three runs in the sixth before Bridgit Yothers came in to shut the door on the rubber. Heather Picard recorded the victory while striking out five in five-plus innings of work.

In game two, the Mounties exploded for six runs in the second inning capped by a Westover triple that brought in two to make it a 6-0 game. With the score at 8-1, Kaleigh Roop powered her first home run of the season to make it 10-1, and the game ended via the mercy rule as Kelsey Ickes shut down Chatham in the bottom of the inning.

Ickes got the win in game two as she allowed just two hits in a complete-game effort. Taylor Mansfield added three RBI's and a triple among two hits at the plate.

The Mounties improve to 7-5 on the season.
