Box Score 2 Erie, PA - After dropping game one by a score of 5-2, the Mount Aloysius softball team exploded for 17 hits in a 11-2 victory in game two over host Penn State Behrend in an AMCC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
In game two, Jalisa Westover registered a 5-for-5 performance at the plate with two doubles, three RBI's and three runs scored. She singled through the left side to bring in
Chelsea Engeholm in the top of the third, and came around on an
Alexandria Teeter double that made it a 4-1 ballgame. Westover added an RBI single in the fourth inning and RBI double in the top of the seventh.
On the mound, Heather Picard was effective in a complete-game performance. She allowed just two runs (one earned) and kept the Behrend hitters at bay throughout the game.
Kaleigh Roop added three hits, while Engeholm, Lindsy Sammarco, Teeter (three RBI's) and Danielle Hart added two hits apiece.
In the 5-2 loss in game one, the Mounties jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Hart came around on a fielder's choice from Taylor Mansfield. Hart went 2-for-3 in game one with a triple and one RBI.
Kelsey Ickes was handed the loss as she allowed eight hits and four earned runs in six innings.
The Mounties move to 14-8 overall and 5-3 in conference. They return to action tomorrow with a home AMCC doubleheader against Pitt-Bradford.
