Box Score 2 Hamburg, NY - The Mount Aloysius softball team used strong pitching performances from Heather Picard and
Kelsey Ickes and defeated Hilbert College 3-1 and 11-3 in an AMCC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
In game one, Picard was dominant while allowing only three hits and one run in a complete-game performance. She also struck out seven. The Mount hit the board first as Lindsy Sammarco drew a walk with the bases loaded, and Jalisa Westover followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0. Mount Aloysius added a third run in the top of the fourth as Kiersten Lorditch stole home after Westover drew a throw while attempting to steal second. Picard allowed two hits and a run in the final inning, but the Mounties held on for the win.
Westover finished 3-for-4 at the plate in game one for the Mount.
In game two, the Mount fell into a 3-0 hole after the first inning, and the score remained the same until the bottom of the fourth. The Mounties dropped four runs in the inning and followed with four more in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to end the game via the mercy rule.
The Mounties registered 15 hits in game two.
Chelsea Engeholm went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Jalisa Westover (three runs, one RBI),
Alexandria Teeter (two runs, three RBIs), Bridgit Yothers (one run, two RBIs) and McKenzie Moore (one run, one RBI) all recorded two hits.
Ickes allowed six hits and three earned runs over six innings to earn the victory.
The Mounties move to 19-9 and 10-4 in AMCC play.
