Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team defeated visiting Bethany College 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action to earn their first win of the season.

In a back-and-forth battle throughout, the Mounties entered halftime deadlocked at 0-0 with the visitors despite some strong chances in the attack from the trio of Olivia Woodley, Olivia Hannan and Mary Durle.

In the 74th minute, Woodley broke the tie with a perfectly placed shot to the far corner off of a pass from Durle to give the Mounties a 1-0 advantage. The home side held strong throughout the remainder of the contest to record the victory.

The Mountie backline of Elizabeth Josephson, Mackenzie Horne, Maggi Ferguson, Courtney McGrath and goalkeeper Zara Apakoh limited Bethany's chances throughout the match. Apakoh registered 10 saves to earn her first win of the season in net.

Mount Aloysius improves to 1-1 on the season and will travel to Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. matchup.
