Olivia Woodley completed a hat trick in the 87th minute as the Mount Aloysius College women's soccer team won their fourth game in a row with a 4-1 victory over visiting Lycoming College on Wednesday afternoon.
Woodley began the game's scoring in the 8th minute when she knocked in her own rebound attempt to give the Mounties an early 1-0 advantage. Woodley had a number of chances throughout the half and converted once again on a breakaway after a through ball from
Mackenzie Horne just before halftime. Mount Aloysius held a 2-0 advantage after the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, Lycoming started to press and the Warriors were rewarded through the play of Jordan Lazarich as she broke through for a goal to make it a 2-1 game in the 68th minute. The goal broke a scoreless streak of over 338 minutes for the Mountie defense.
The Mounties continued to create opportunities, as
Olivia Hannan was just high on a shot from 12 yards out. Hannan found her first collegiate goal in the 79th minute when she headed home a
Kristin James corner kick to make it 3-1. Woodley wrapped up the scoring in the 87th minute as she whipped in a corner off of the keeper's hands to seal the victory for the Mounties.
Woodley led the Mounties offensively with 12 shots as the team outshot the Warriors 19-6.
Zara Apakoh made three saves in goal to earn her fourth win of the season.
Mount Aloysius will look to make it five in a row when they travel to Thiel College for a 6 p.m. contest on Friday evening.
