Box Score Greenville, PA - Led by two more goals from forward
Olivia Woodley and a stellar defensive effort, the Mount Aloysius women's soccer team defeated Thiel College by a score of 2-0 in non-conference action on Friday evening on the road.
The Mounties came out dominating possession in the first 15 minutes, and Woodley scored two goals in a two-minute span to give Mount Aloysius a 2-0 advantage with 30:29 left on the clock in the first half. Woodley had two more close chances in the half to complete a hat trick, but both attempts just missed goal. Her two goals now give her eight on the season in six games.
Zara Apakoh and the Mountie backline of
Maggi Ferguson,
Elizabeth Josephson,
Mackenzie Horne and
Courtney McGrath held strong throughout the second half to secure the Mount's fourth shutout of the season. Apakoh made eight saves, and Josephson provided an assist on Woodley's first goal of the game.
The Mounties have now won five games in a row while allowing just one goal over the 450 minutes of action during the streak.
Women's soccer returns to action next Thursday when they travel to Chatham University for a 5 p.m. contest.
