Box Score Pittsburgh, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team was taken to overtime by host Chatham University, but the Mounties scored 3:22 into the extra session to capture their sixth consecutive win on Thursday.
The two sides were deadlocked at 2-2 heading into extra time.
Mary Durle found the ball near midfield and turned upfield, then played a through ball right to the foot of
Olivia Woodley. Woodley struck a low, hard shot past Chatham's charging keeper Liz Sawyer to send the Mounties off with a victory.
The Mounties came out slow in the game's opening half and found themselves down 1-0 after the first 45 minutes despite outshooting Chatham 8-5. In the 57th minute, Durle scored off of a cross from Woodley to tie things up at 1-1.
About 20 minutes later, Chatham's Megan Sieg scored her second goal of the game to give the hosts a 2-1 advantage. With just over six minutes to play in the second half, the Mount's
Elizabeth Josephson scored her first goal of the season after moving to forward just minutes earlier. Josephson knocked home a cross from the foot of Durle on the right wing.
Josephson had a free kick from 25 yards as time expired in the half, but her shot sailed high and the game headed to overtime.
Saywer stopped eight Mount Aloysius shots, while
Zara Apakoh registered two saves. Mount Aloysius held a 17-10 advantage in shots on the afternoon.
The Mounties return to the field on Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. non-conference matchup against Valley Forge Christian College.
