Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team used a well-balanced team effort to defeat the University of Valley Forge 6-0 in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon on their home field.
Olivia Hannan scored the fastest goal in school history as the freshman found a loose ball at the edge of the box and blasted it to the upper right hand corner to give the hosts a 1-0 lead just 15 seconds into the game. Hannan added another goal at the 5:20 mark to make it a 2-0 game after
Kristlyn Dibert knocked a pass onto the foot of Hannan.
Dibert added to the lead about 20 minutes later when she slotted home her first career goal off of a feed from
Caitlin Greiner. The Mounties would make it a 4-0 game heading into the half when
Courtney McGrath also scored her first collegiate goal after she took a pass down the left wing from
Kansas Klock and lofted it into the far corner of the net in the 29th minute of action.
Klock found the back of the net in the 65th minute after her shot deflected off of a Valley Forge defender and snuck past the keeper to make it 5-0. The Mount's
Olivia Woodley finished the scoring in the 74th minute after she got behind the defense and beat the keeper low after a well-placed through ball from
Kristin James.
Valley Forge keeper Amanda McGinness registered 13 saves, including a few outstanding saves throughout to keep Valley Forge in the game. The Mount's
Zara Apakoh recorded two saves and the clean sheet, the fifth shutout of the season for the sophomore goalie.
The Mounties outshot the Patriots 27-3. Woodley took four shots, while Hannan, James,
Mary Durle and
Karina Hernandez each had three shots on the day.
Mount Aloysius returns to action on Saturday with its AMCC opener in Buffalo against D'Youville College.
