Women's Soccer Drops Close Match to Altoona

Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team fell victim to two late goals as they dropped their final match of the season to Penn State Altoona by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday evening in AMCC action.

The game was scoreless for nearly 70 minutes until Altoona found the game's first goal with 21:23 remaining in the second half. After putting numbers forward in search of the equalizer, the Mounties gave up a late goal with four minutes left on the clock.

The two sides battled back and forth early as the Mount's Olivia Woodley had two good looks early on. Woodley had one shot stopped by the Altoona keeper after she got behind the defense, and midway through the half knocked a shot that deflected off the top of the crossbar and out of bounds.

Woodley and Jordan Gebhart had two chances at goal down 1-0, but neither could convert. Woodley ended the game with five shots while Gebhart had three for Mount Aloysius. In net, Kristin James stopped eight shots on the evening.

The Mounties conclude their season with an overall record of 7-11. The seven wins ties a school record set last season. The Mounties say goodbye to Caitlin Greiner and Jorden Eutsey, who will both be graduating this May. Greiner started 15 games this season on defense, while Eutsey appeared in 11 and started five along the backline.
