Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team was defeated in a close contest by visiting Pitt-Greensburg by a final score of 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon in AMCC action.
After an up-and-down first half in which neither team could get much going offensively, the Bobcats scored their lone goal on a penalty kick following a Mount Aloysius handball in the box in the 41st minute. The handball also resulted in a red card, which forced the Mounties to play a man down for the final 49 minutes.
Despite playing a man down, the Mounties outshot the Bobcats 5-4 in the second half and created a number of offensive chances.
Jordan Gebhart had a good opportunity when she got on the end of a cross, but her header sailed wide. Gebhart also had a shot from the edge of the box narrowly miss target.
Olivia Woodley also recorded two shots in the half and finished the game with three shots.
In the final minute the Mounties earned another opportunity with a corner kick attempt, but following a loose ball in the box a foul called on Mount Aloysius ended the comeback attempt.
Mount Aloysius drops to 6-7 overall on the season and will return to the field on Saturday with a road match at Pitt-Bradford.
