Mounties Finish Strong Weekend at AMCC Round Robin


Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's bowling team concluded a very strong weekend on the lanes on Sunday as the Mounties went 7-1 against AMCC competition at the first AMCC Round Robin of the season hosted by Medaille College.

Rayissa Amon led the Mountie charge in day one of the competition on Saturday. Rayissa paced the entire field averaging 190 for four games of tournament play. Freshman Jessica Bello averaged 170 for four games and Michelle Magee rounded out the top three with a 189 average for two games. The team started our strong in match one MAC but lost momentum in our second match of the day. The Mounties were able to regroup in matches 3 and 4 for the wins to finish 3-1 for the day.

oncluded their first AMCC conference event with a 4-0 sweep on Sunday by defeating host Medaille College 918-831; Penn State Altoona 991-897; Pitt Bradford 980-932 and New Jersey City University 626-460 in baker bowling. 

Amon rolled a Mountie high baker average of 19.28 for 42 frames, Freshman Clara Angeloff had a strong showing of 17.47 for 42 frames and Bello rounded out the top three with a 16.3 average for 20 frames. Other Mountie bowlers helping secure the wins were Lucy Craig (15.94), Jennifer Bertoldi (15.37), Jill Vietmeier (14.91), Michelle Magee (14.88) and Beth Longer (14.64).

"This was a solid performance and will give us great momentum heading into our next event in Virginia on Friday. I am extremely proud of this team. These ladies are training at a high level and continue to step up in all situations," Head Coach Barbara Jones said.

The Mounties are now 12-7 overall and return to competition next weekend at the Virginia Union Invitational.
