The team needed to win their first best-of-seven match on Sunday morning in Richmond to put themselves in contention for a top-2 finish but fell to a strong Felician team 4-0 (692-779). Match two of the day was a must win match in the bracket format which the Mounties needed to win to secure their chance at a top-3 finish. However, it was not meant to be as the team went six rounds against Hampton University only to fall 4-2 (1034-1132). With one more match left, the Mounties took command of the final match 4-0 against SPU (672-602) for the fifth place finish out of 11 schools participating in the event.
"Both Coach Bob and I are extremely proud of this young team. They have a tremendous amount of energy and talent. We simply were not able to convert makeable spares today which sealed our fate. We had our strongest baker team average to date this weekend with a 171.2. And we saw a few players step up in baker to include Bertoldi who rolled a 188.8 average today and Beth Longer, another freshman, who rolled a 16.1 under pressure in the final match," Head Coach Barbara Jones said.
Mountie Bowling will take a much needed break for Thanksgiving but will be ready to roll into Shippensburg on December 5 with a 21-11 record.
