Women's Bowling Finishes Second at AMCC Championships

Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's bowling team finished as the AMCC Runner-Up at the AMCC Bowling Championships this past weekend at the Holiday Bowl in Altoona.

Pitt-Bradford won the AMCC Championship for the second consecutive season. The defending champions sat atop the standings after day one with a total pinfall of 4,635 and finished day two with a total of 6,410. Mount Aloysius came in second with a total pinfall of 6,175.

At the conclusion of the competition, the Mounties Katie Gales and Courtney Sable were named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team.

After the first day of competition, the Mounties were in second place with 4,478 total pins while Medaille College was third with 4,436, and Penn St. Altoona rounded out the field with 4,031.

Gales led the Mounties with 1,075 total pins on day one, while Jill Vietmeier was next in line for Mount Aloysius with 858 total pins.

Saturday's matches were played using the team format, with every team bowling each other twice. Total pinfall for the two-game match determined the win-loss vs. each opponent. Mount Aloysius fell to Pitt-Bradford to start Saturday's action  before rallying to  defeat Medaille and Penn State Altoona.

Sunday's competition was played using the best-of-seven baker format, and the Mounties couldn't overcome the early deficit to Pitt-Bradford to overtake the Panthers for the championship.

The runner-up finish under Head Coach Andy Clouse is a tremendous improvement from the Mounties fourth-place finish a year ago.

The Mounties will conclude their season on February 21st and 22nd at an AMCC Quad Match hosted by Penn State Altoona.
