Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team captured their first victory of the season with a 7-2 win over Thiel College on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at the Altoona Summit Athletic Club.
The Mounties swept doubles play as
Matt Hample and
Justin Fleegle won 8-3 at #1 doubles followed by an 8-1 victory for
Kevin Ouellette and
Nick Centar at #2 doubles.
Adam Pernelli and
Jacob Aravich rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win.
In singles play, Hample continued his strong play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at #1 singles. Fleegle then clinched the match at #3 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 win before Ouellette and Aravich also followed with victories at #4 and #5 singles.
The Mounties improve to 1-1 on the season and return to action on Sunday with their first conference match of the season at home against Pitt-Bradford at 11 a.m.
