Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Cresson, PA - Despite a strong pitching performance in game one from Kelsey Ickes in her final home doubleheader, the Mount Aloysius softball team was defeated by scores of 3-1 and 5-3 against visiting D'Youville College on Saturday afternoon.

Ickes was handed the loss in game one despite allowing only three earned runs and five hits for the ballgame. She struck out 10 hitters and walked four.

The two sides were scoreless through three innings, and the Spartans broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth on a bases loaded walk. The visitors added another run in the top of the sixth to make it 2-0 before the Mounties cut the lead in half in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double from Alexandria Teeter that scored Natalie Karpinsky.

The Spartans responded with a run in their final at-bat, and the Mounties went down in order to fall in game one. Karpinsky finished 3-for-3 with one run scored, while Teeter went 2-for-4 with the Mounties lone RBI.

In game two, D'Youville powered past Ickes early as the visitors scored three runs in their first three times at the plate. After falling behind 4-0, the Mounties responded with home runs from Taylor Swatsworth and Hayley McGowan in the bottom of the fourth to cut the gap to 4-2. Mount Aloysius then made it a 4-3 ballgame in the fifth inning as Swatsworth doubled home Brandie Mott.

D'Youville added a run in the sixth, and the Mounties could not overcome the lead despite putting two runners on base in their final at-bat with no outs.

Swatsworth finished game two 3-for-4 at the plate, and Mott went 2-for-3.

The Mounties fall to 17-13 on the season and 9-5 in conference play. They return to action on Wednesday at Penn State Altoona for an AMCC doubleheader scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
