Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3
Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius softball team defeated defending AMCC champion Penn State Altoona in an elimination game on Saturday morning, but ultimately were eliminated by La Roche College later in the day in a double-elimination format at D'Youville College.

The Mounties began the tournament Friday and lost their opening game to La Roche by a final score of 4-2. The loss put Mount Aloysius into an elimination game with Penn State Altoona, which the Mounties won 4-3 in a dramatic finish.

Mount Aloysius hit the scoreboard first against the Lions with two runs in the top of the second inning. Ali Reese scored the game's first run after scoring off of an error, and Brandie Mott came around on a sacrifice fly to make it a 2-0 ballgame. Altoona responded with two runs in the bottom of the third, and the two sides stayed deadlocked at 2-2 until the Lions scored off of an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth.

Down to their last at-bat, the Mounties had the bases load with one out. Taylor Swatsworth came up huge with an RBI single to tie the game at 3-3, and Alexandria Teeter followed with another single that brought in Natalie Karpinsky to give Mount Aloysius a 4-3 lead. Kelsey Ickes then retired the Altoona side in order to give the Mounties the victory and keep their playoff hopes alive.

Ickes threw a complete game against the Lions allowing just five hits and one earned run. Teeter and Karpinsky each went 2-for-3 at the plate offensively for the Mounties.

With the win, the Mounties advanced to another elimination game against La Roche. Mount Aloysius put a run on the board early when Swatsworth singled and quickly moved around the bases, eventually scoring on a passed ball and making the score 1-0.

The Redhawks had a big fourth inning, scoring all three of their runs on four hits to take a 3-1 lead. The Mounties couldn't find any offense the rest of the way as they were eliminated from the tournament by a final score of 3-1.

Mount Aloysius ends it season with an overall record of 18-19. The Mounties will bid farewell to Ickes, the Mount's lone senior and one of the most dominant pitchers in Mountie history.
