Box Score Lancaster, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team won their second game in a row as the Mounties defeated Lancaster Bible College by a final score of 1-0 in overtime on Tuesday afternoon.
The two sides put forth a defensive battle throughout the first half as just six total shots were registered between the teams. The host Chargers outshot the Mounties 4-2 over the first 45 minutes.
The game opened up as the second half went on. Lancaster Bible threatened on a couple of occassions, while the Mountie trio of
Olivia Woodley,
Kristin James and
Amanda Brancato put pressure on the Charger backline.
Goalkeeper
Zara Apakoh and the Mountie backline continued to keep the Chargers off the board, and the two teams remained scoreless through regulation.
The Mounties dominated early in overtime and registered two shots before earning a corner kick. James drove in the corner, and Woodley collected the ball right near the goal line and struck it into the net to give Mount Aloysius the dramatic win.
Apakoh collected five saves as she earned her second consecutive shutout.
Mount Aloysius improves to 4-4 overall and will have their final non-conference match tomorrow at home at 4 p.m. against Wilson College.
