Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team recorded its third consecutive shutout victory as the Mounties defeated visiting Wilson College by a final score of 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in their final non-conference match of the season.
Goalkeeper
Zara Apakoh had to make just two saves as the junior registered her third shutout in a row in net. Offensively,
Jordan Gebhart scored both goals for the Mounties.
Gebhart scored her first goal at the 26:39 mark of the first half. Following a scramble in front of goal, Gebhart hit a one-time shot past the Wilson keeper to give Mount Aloysius a 1-0 advantage. The Mounties threatened throughout the remainder of the half but went into the break up 1-0.
In the second half,
Kady Bills sent in a well-placed cross to the back post from the right wing. Gebhart got on the end of it and headed home her second goal of the game.
The Mountie backline led by
Caitlin Greiner and
Leanne Cardoso-Bastos continued to prevent any attack from the Phoenix as the visitors were only able to muster five shots on the day.
Mount Aloysius improves to 5-4 overall and will face D'Youville College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the conference opener for both teams.
