Box Score Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team lost a hard-fought contest to visiting Geneva College by a final score of 4-1 on Monday afternoon.
The Mounties jumped out to an early advantage after
Jordan Gebhart knocked in a goal off a corner kick from
Kristin James 16:38 into the game to make it 1-0 Mount Aloysius. The visiting Golden Tornadoes started to dominate play and scored three goals in a five-minute span to create a 3-1 lead.
Mount Aloysius performed better defensively in the second half, allowing only a breakway goal in the 56th minute. The home side couldn't overcome the 4-1 deficit as the Mounties dropped to 1-1 overall.
Olivia Woodley registered three shots to lead the Mounties offensively, while
Kristin James and
Amanda Brancato each had two shots for the game.
Leanne Cardoso-Bastos made three saves in the first half before yielding to
Zara Apakoh, who stopped five shots in the second half.
Mount Aloysius returns to the field on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. matchup at Bethany College.
