Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team put forth a strong defensive effort for 90 minutes on their way to a 1-0 victory over visiting Hilbert on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.
The Mounties and the backline of
Kiera Bills,
Summer Schell,
Karen Boone and
Katie Quillman limited the Hawks to five shots over the course of the game, and keeper
Zara Apakoh only had to make two saves as she registered her third shutout of the season.Â
Offensively, striker
Cheyenne Kuncher was active throughout the game as she recorded a game-high eight shots. Kuncher found a well-placed through ball from
Olivia Woodley in the 20th minute and struck a low shot past the Hilbert keeper to provide the only goal of the game.
Kuncher and the Mounties threatened throughout the remainer of the game but weren't able to increase their lead despite a 16-5 advantage in shots.Â
Mount Aloysius improves to 10-4-1 overall and 4-1-1 in AMCC play. They will return to the field on Wednesday with a road contest at Pitt-Greensburg slated to begin at 2 p.m.Â
