Mountie Bowling Competes Over the Weekend


Reading, PA -  The Mount Aloysius women's bowling team competed over the weekend in the Bud Whitman Baker tournament in Reading.

The team posted a 3-2 record on day one on Saturday. The Mounties lost match one by a single pin 823 to 822 against Molloy. Match two was all Delaware State as they defeated the Mounties winning 974 - 815. After the initial two defeats, the Mounties stepped up and defeated Kutztown 940-917, St. Peters 868-685 and Howard 857-804. Leading the charge for the Mounties was Rayissa Amon with a 19.3 average, Jessica Bello with a 17.6 average and Clara Angeloff with a 17.3 average.

The Mounties started the day Sunday with a strong match against Adelphi but were unable to get the win as they fell 885-871. The second match against Coppin State was more successful for the Mounties as they recorded a 833-687 win. The remainder of the day was a struggle for the team as they lost to Daemon 931-797, Chestnut Hill 962-881 and St. Francis Brooklyn 839-780. 

Top scorers for the weekend were Amon with a 178 average, as well as freshmen Casey Schaffer and Paetyn Klinger with 170 and 169 averages respectively. 

"This team got off to a quick start with limited practice time. We will spend the next three weeks preparing for the next two events. This is a strong team and we will pull it together," Head Coach Barbara Jones said. "I was very impressed with our two freshmen and expect that they will continue to improve and aid this young team to success."
