Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team put forth a strong effort but ultimately fell by a final score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon in AMCC action against visiting Penn State Behrend.

The two sides traded possession early on before Behrend broke through for the game's first goal in the 22nd minute off of a deflected shot that reached the back of the net. The Mounties responded right away, however, as just over a minute later Jordan Gebhart headed home a Sam Torrenti corner kick to even the game at 1-1. It appeared the teams would be headed to halftime tied before the Lions scored another goal off of a header on a free kick with less than two minutes remaining in the half.

The visitors used the momentum of the late first-half goal and struck for their third goal of the game ten minutes into the second half. Facing a 3-1 deficit, the Mounties found three shot opportunities in the second half but were unable to capitalize.

Cheyenne Kuncher led the Mountie attack with two shots, while goalkeeper Leanne Cardoso-Bastos made nine saves.

The Mounties fall to 7-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. They will return to the field on Wednesday with a home matchup against conference opponent Penn State Altoona.
