Panthers Top Mounties in AMCC Action

Box Score
Loretto, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss to visiting Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon in a game played on the campus of St. Francis University due to unplayable field conditions caused by heavy rains on the Mounties home field.

The Mounties outshot the visiting Panthers 9-6, but couldn't capitalize on their opportunities. The first half was a defensive battle between the two sides as both teams traded possession along the midfield. After a 0-0 first half, Mount Aloysius started putting together passes and Olivia Woodley had a scoring opportunity go wide after a shot from the top of the box in the opening minutes of the second half. The Panthers scored in the 65th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Minutes later, Cheyenne Kuncher got free on a breakaway but wasn't able to push a shot past the charging Bradford keeper.

After the Mounties pushed forward in search of the equalizer, the Panthers added an insurance goal in the final minute of play to create the 2-0 scoreline.

Prior to Saturday's contest, the Mounties honored their five seniors: Woodley, Zara Apakoh, Kristin James, Kady Bills and Kiera Bills. The senior class helped build up the Mountie women's soccer program and currently are the winningest class in program history with 30 career victories, including a program-record 10 thus far in their senior season as well as the program's first ever AMCC playoff berth.

Mount Aloysius will host La Roche on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in their regular season finale. The Mounties have clinched a spot in the upcoming AMCC playoffs which will begin next Saturday.
