Women's Bowling Records 1st-Place Finish in AMCC Competition


Jersey City, NJ - The Mount Aloysius women's bowling team attended the first AMCC Round Robin event of the season hosted by New Jersey City over the weekend and ended competiton at the top of the conference order with a record of 7-1.

The Mounties defeated New Jersey City 802-794 on Saturday in their first match and also defeated Penn State Altoona 806-707 and Pitt Bradford 766-744 while falling to Medaille 777-743 for their lone loss of the weekend. The Mounties high game was rolled by freshman Casey Schaffer with a 198. High average was registered by Jill Vietmeier with a 171 and Jessica Bello with a 166. The team posted a 3-1 record on day one, one game behind host New Jersey City. 

Sunday consisted of baker matches in which the Mounties recaptured first place in the conference with a 4-0 record. The Mounties defeated Penn State Altoona 797-599, Pitt Bradford 902-740, New Jersey City 866-788 and Medaille 871-719. High baker average was posted by Rayissa Amon with a 18.1 followed by Schaffer with a 17.3 and Bello with a 17.2.

The team will be off until January 14th when they travel to Pitt Bradford for the second AMCC Round Robin event of the season. The Mounties record currently stands at 21-11 overall.
