Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team registered a split over the weekend in AMCC competition as the Mounties defeated Pitt-Bradford 9-0 on Friday evening before falling by a final score of 6-3 on Saturday to Penn State Behrend.
In the victory over Bradford, the Mounties were dominant in nearly every matchup.
Matt Hample and
Nick Centar won 8-4 at #1 doubles followed by a 8-1 win for
Justin Fleegle and
Nick Goldyn at #2 doubles.
Aubrey Brown and
Kevin Ouellette completed the doubles sweep with a 8-1 victory at #3 doubles. In singles competition, Hample won 6-0, 6-1 at the top spot and Centar won every point at #2 singles in a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Fleegle, Goldyn and Brown kept the Mounties on a roll with singles wins before
Dylan Matta was victorious in a tiebreaker at #6 singles.Â
On Saturday, Mount Aloysius fell short against the Lions despite another doubles win for the Brown-Ouellette duo and singles victories for Brown and Goldyn.Â
Brown is now 6-0 overall in singles play this season.Â
The Mounties are now 4-2 overall and 1-1 in AMCC play. They will return to action on Tuesday at Bethany College for a non-conference match beginning at 4 p.m.Â
