Bethany. WV - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team came up just short in a 5-4 defeat at the hands of Bethany College in non-conference action on the road on Tuesday evening.
The Mounties fell behind 2-0 in doubles play when
Justin Fleegle and
Nick Centar lost a close #2 doubles match by a final margin of 9-7. The duo of
Aubrey Brown and
Kevin Ouellette then got Mount Aloysius on the board with a commanding 8-0 victory at #3 doubles.
Bethany won at #1 and #2 singles but Mount Aloysius stayed in it as Fleegle won 6-3, 7-5 at #3 singles.
Nick Goldyn was defeated in a tight match at #4 singles, and then Brown continued his undefeated season at singles play with a 10-7 tiebreaker victory at #5 singles. Though the Mounties won by forfeit at #6 singles, it wasn't enough as Bethany won by a final of 5-4.
The Mounties drop to 4-3 overall and will return to the courts on April 2
nd with a home matchup against Franciscan at 1 p.m.
