Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Beaver Falls, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team swept host Geneva College on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader as the Mounties won by scores of 6-2 and 8-3.

Morgan Rackish led the Mounties to the game one win with a stellar performance on the rubber. The freshman pitched a complete game against the Golden Tornadoes and allowed just four hits and one earned run while striking out five hitters.

Offensively, the Mounties struck quickly with four runs in their first at-bat. Hayley McGowan registered an RBI single that brought in Leanne Cardoso-Bastos to get the scoring started, and Taylor Swatsworth followed with a double that brought in two more runs. The first-inning scoring was completed when Swatsworth came around to score following a Geneva error. Mount Aloysius went on to make it 5-0 in the second inning courtesy of a Chelsea Engeholm RBI single to left field.

Geneva cut the deficit to 5-2, but Rackish continued to hold the Mountie lead. Karly Klein provided an insurance run in the top of the sixth inning with a home run as Mount Aloysius secured the victory.

In game two, the Mounties continued their strong performance from an offensive standpoint with 12 hits for the ballgame. Klein slugged her second home run of the day with a two-run shot in the fourth inning that gave Mount Aloysius a 3-0 advantage. Holding a 3-2 lead, the Mounties struck for five runs in the next two innings highlighted by a Engeholm two-run homer in the sixth inning that increased the lead to 8-2. In her first pitching performance of the season, Bridgit Yothers then closed the game with a strong showing in relief of starter Stevi Confer.

Engeholm and Alexandria Teeter each finished the two-game set with four hits apiece. Cardoso-Bastos, Swatsworth and Klein each ended the day with three hits.

The Mounties improve to 9-11 overall. They will return to the field tomorrow for their AMCC opener at home against Franciscan University. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
