Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team won their third straight match by a final score of 7-2 on Thursday evening against non-conference opponent Lycoming College.
The Mounties swept the three doubles matches as
Matt Hample and
Nick Goldyn scored a 8-4 victory at #1 doubles followed by 8-5 wins for the duos of
Nick Centar and
Justin Fleegle as well as
Kevin Ouellette and
Aubrey Brown. Lycoming then got back into the match with victories in the first two singles matches, but Fleegle got the Mounties back on track with a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #3 singles. Mount Aloysius then recorded victories in the final three singles matches as Goldyn, Brown and
Jalen Terry each registered wins in two sets.
Brown's victory gives him a 10-2 record in singles play for the season, while Fleegle improved to 7-4 and Goldyn now stands at 7-5 overall in singles competition. Brown and Ouellette have notched a 5-1 record when competiting in doubles competition together this spring.
Mount Aloysius improves to 7-5 overall heading into their AMCC playoff match this Saturday. The Mounties will square off against Penn State Behrend in their first ever AMCC postseason appearance on Saturday in Erie.
