Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team dropped both games of a conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at home against Penn State Behrend as the Mounties fell by final scores of 7-2 and 4-0.

The visiting Lions scored twice in the first inning of game one before the Mounties cut the deficit to 2-1 after Hayley McGowan scored after a Behrend error in the bottom of the second inning. The game remained 2-1 until Behrend extended its advantage with three runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth to make it a 7-1 ballgame. Mount Aloysius got a run back on a McGowan RBI single in the bottom of the sixth that scored Taylor Swatsworth, but the home side wouldn't get any closer.

McGowan led the Mounties offensively in game one with two hits, and Morgan Rackish was handed the loss in a complete-game effort.

Game two featured a pitching duel early on as the Mounties Stevi Confer allowed just one Behrend run through four innings of play. The visitors led 1-0 before adding three runs in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 4-0. For the second consecutive game, Mount Aloysius was only able to muster four hits in defeat.

Bridgit Yothers pitched 2 and 2/3 scoreless innings in relief in game two.

The Mounties now sit at 9-5 in conference play and 18-17 overall and will return to action on Wednesday with another AMCC doubleheader at home against Penn State Altoona. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
