Mounties Drop Two Close Games to Altoona

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team dropped two close AMCC contests to visiting Penn State Altoona on Wednesday afternoon as the Mounties lost by scores of 2-1 and 7-4.

Game one featured a strong pitching performance from both sides. The Mounties Morgan Rackish was handed the loss despite allowing only six hits and two unearned runs in the top of the third inning. After going down into a 2-0 hole, Mount Aloysius cut the deficit to one in the bottom of the fifth when Alexandria Teeter singled home Leanne Cardoso-Bastos. The Mounties wouldn't get any closer as they failed to record a baserunner over their final two at-bats.

Teeter had two of the Mounties three hits in game one, while Cardoso-Bastos registered the other hit.

In game two, the Mounties fell behind 5-2 after two innings and trailed 6-2 before rallying in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cardoso-Bastos and Teeter hit back-to-back RBI singles that drove in Kate Little and Rackish to make it a 6-4 ballgame, but the Mounties once again failed to generate any offense late in the game as Altoona held on for the victory.

Eight different Mounties recorded one hit apiece in game two.

The Mounties fall to 18-19 overall and 9-7 in conference play heading into their regular season finale on Saturday. Mount Aloysius will travel to D'Youville for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
