Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team dropped a rain-shortened game to non-conference opponent Grove City on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 5-0 in five innings. Game two of the doubleheader was cancelled due to weather.

The visiting Wolverines scored one run in their opening at-bat and broke open the ballgame with four more runs in the top of the third to seize a 5-0 advantage. The teams attempted to play into the sixth inning, but the game was called due to rain.

Leanne Cardoso-Bastos hit a triple for the Mounties, while Alexandria Teeter, Chelsea Engeholm and Hannah Simpson each recorded one hit. Morgan Rackish was handed the loss, dropping her season record to 6-5, after allowing eight hits and five earned runs in five innings on the rubber. She struck out five.

The Mounties will return to action this weekend when they will host Hilbert for a conference doubleheader.
