Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team put forth their best offensive performance of the season in a 7-0 victory over Thiel College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Jordan Gebhart paced the Mountie attack as she played a part in five of the seven goals while contributing a hat trick and two assists.
Cheyenne Kuncher added two goals, while
Olivia Woodley recorded one goal and one assist.
Sam Torrenti scored the Mounties opening goal just 2:51 into the contest for the game winner, and
Sara Testa and
Katie Mirance each contributed one assist apiece.
Torrenti scored the game's opening goal off of a feed from Testa, and just over a minute later Kuncher flicked in a nice touch off of a Gebhart cross to make it 2-0 Mounties less than five minutes into the game. In the 18th minute, Gebhart scored her first of three consecutive goals off of a free kick pass from Woodley. Holding a 3-0 advantage, the Mounties again struck in quick succession as Gebhart found a loose ball in front of the keeper and put it home to increase the lead to 4-0 less than 20 minutes into play.
Gebhart finished her scoring in the opening minute of the second half when she redirected in a cross from Mirance. Kuncher and Woodley then added goals in the 50th and 61st minute to round out the scoring.
The Mounties outshot the visiting Tomcats 22-4 and held a 4-0 edge in corner kick opportunties.Â
Leanne Cardoso-Bastos recorded four saves and earned her second shutout of the season.
Mount Aloysius returns to the field on Wednesday when they will travel to Wilson College for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
