Mounties Run Past Wilson For Victory

Chambersburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team received goals from five different players as the Mounties ran past host Wilson College by a final score of 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

Cheyenne Kuncher scored the Mount's opening goal just over 13 minutes into the contest off of a breakaway, and Jordan Gebhart added another goal a minute later to make it 2-0 Mounties. In the 27th minute, Olivia Woodley blasted a shot from 25 yards out increase the advantage to 3-0.

After taking a 3-0 lead into halftime, Katie Mirance struck for her first goal of the season eight minutes into the second half to increase the lead to 4-0. In the 62nd minute, Gebhart struck for another goal off of a free kick from Summer Schell, and Mirance added her second goal off of a pass from Woodley less than a minute later to up the Mountie advantage to 6-0.

Gebhart completed her second consecutive hat trick in the 65th minute on a shot from the right side of the box. Mount Aloysius closed its scoring barrage in the 81st minute. After Harpreet Heer made a great individual effort to get into the Wilson box, she sent in a low cross that was directed in by Tamara George.

Mount Aloysius held a 20-1 advantage in shots. Goalkeeper Leanne Cardoso-Bastos was not forced to make a save while recording her third shutout in the last four games.

The Mounties improve to 5-3 overall on the season and will return to action for their conference opener on Sunday at Medaille. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
