Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team came back from an early deficit to win their conference opener by a final score of 3-1 over Medaille on Sunday afternoon in AMCC action on the road.
After the host Mavericks were successful on a penalty kick attempt in the 18th minute of play, the Mounties responded right away with a goal two and a half minutes later.
Cheyenne Kuncher beat her defender and slotted a pass across the box to a streaking
Katie Mirance, who buried her third goal in two games to tie the score at 1-1.
The Mounties controlled play throughout the half and had a number of opportunities to take the lead. Kuncher hit the crossbar in the 26th minute, and
Summer Schell and Mirance each had close-range shots saved by the Medaille keeper. The two teams went into halftime tied 1-1.
Mount Aloysius scored on its second shot attempt in the second half. Kuncher took a feed from
Amanda Brancato in the box and scored to give the Mounties a 2-1 advantage. Ten minutes later, Brancato made it a 3-1 game when she scored off of a rebound on a shot on goal from Kuncher.

Leanne Cardoso-Bastos limited the Mavericks to one shot after taking the 3-1 lead on their way to the victory.
The Mounties outshot the Mavericks 17-5. Kuncher registered five shot attempts, while Brancato and Mirance each recorded three shots on goal.
Mount Aloysius is now 6-3 overall and will return to action Tuesday when the Mounties will host Bethany for a non-conference matchup at 2 p.m.
