Mounties Win Fourth Straight over Bison

Box Score
Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team won its fourth game in a row with a 1-0 victory over visiting Bethany College on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Mounties outshot the Bison 5-2 in the opening half but weren't able to break through for a goal. Jordan Gebhart had the Mount's best chance as she got free for a header off of a corner kick, but her attempt sailed just high. In the second half of play, Mount Aloysius dominated possession early on and were rewarded in the 56th minute. Amanda Brancato sent in a perfectly placed through ball and Katie Mirance beat the keeper with a low shot to the far corner to give the Mounties the 1-0 advantage. The Bison threatened with four shots in the second half but were unable to tie the game.

Mount Aloysius held a 11-6 advantage in shots as Gebhart led the team with three shots. In net, goalkeeper Zara Apakoh returned from injury to register her first shutout of the season with three saves.

Mirance's goal is her fourth in the last three games.

The Mounties will now turn their focus to a Sunday match with defending AMCC Champion Penn State Behrend. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
