Mountie Bowling Wins AMCC Regular Season Title


Bradford, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's bowling team won the AMCC regular season championship for a second consecutive season after the Mounties went a perfect 8-0 in the second AMCC Round Robin of the season over the weekend at Pitt-Bradford.

On day one on Saturday, the Mounties posted wins against Thiel College 847-599, New Jersey City 880-771, Medaille 850-798 and Pitt-Bradford 897-823. Top averages for the Mounties were Rayissa Amon with a 195, Casey Schaffer with a 186 and Lucy Craig with a 177. The team averaged 173 on the day, one of their highest traditional team averages of the season. 

On Sunday, the Mounties went 4-0 in baker bowling to clinch the regular season title. Mount Aloysius posted a team baker average of 17.0. High baker average went to Schaffer with a 17.7, followed by teammate Beth Longer with a 17.5 and Amon with a 17.3.

"This team has returned from break with an amazing work ethic," Head Coach Barbara Jones said. "Each bowler is stepping up in practice and really pushing themselves to the next level."

The Mounties are currently 29-11 overall and 15-1 against AMCC competition. They will return to the lanes on January 27th for the Saint Francis Invitational.
