Hamburg, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team scored four first-half goals on their way to a 5-0 victory over host Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon in AMCC action.
Jordan Gebhart scored 15 minutes into the game off of a cross from
Sam Torrenti to get Mount Aloysius on the board. The Mounties then scored three times in a nine-minute span later in the half to break open the game. Torrenti scored after a nice combination play with Gebhart with 16 minutes left in the half, and
Brianna Byler followed six minutes later with a lofted shot from the right wing that made it 3-0 in favor of the Mounties. Torrenti capped the scoring with a goal off of a free kick from
Summer Schell that increased the advantage to 4-0 heading into halftime.
The Mounties continued their dominant play in the second half as they registered a 22-5 advantage in shots. The visitors didn't score their final tally until a minute remained when
Cheyenne Kuncher beat a defender off the dribble and ripped a shot from the top of the 18 to finish the scoring.
In net, goalkeeper
Leanne Cardoso-Bastos made seven saves while recording her seventh shutout of the season. Her seven shutouts have her in a tie for first place in the AMCC.
The Mounties improve to 9-5-1 and will host Pitt-Greensburg on Wednesday afternoon.
