Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team exploded on the offensive end as the Mounties defeated visiting D'Youville by a final score of 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.

Cheyenne Kuncher led the Mounties with three goals, while Summer Schell, Jordan Gebhart and Katie Mirance added one goal each. Sam Torrenti contributed two assists and Schell, Mirance and Sara Testa also provided assists for Mount Aloysius.

The two sides traded goals throughout the first half. Gebhart scored a minute and a half into the game on a header off of a corner kick, but the Spartans scored less than a minute later to tie the game. With 31:22 remaining in the opening half, Schell struck a free kick from 20 yards out to hand the home team a 2-1 advantage. D'Youville responded once again with a goal just under five minutes later to even the game at 2-2 heading into halftime.

Kuncher opened up the game in favor of the Mounties in the opening stages of the second half. She scored just over five minutes into the period when she beat the keeper to the near post after a run through the defense, then added another goal two and a half minutes later on a lofted shot from the wing that sailed over the keeper's head and into the back of the net. Katie Mirance made it a 5-2 game four minutes after when she took a feed from Schell and slammed a shot past the charging Spartan keeper.

Each team scored one goal in the final 16 minutes as Kuncher completed her hat trick before the Spartans made it a 6-3 game with 12:55 remaining in the game. After D'Youville's final goal, the Mounties didn't allow a shot in the game's final stages on their way to the win.

The Mounties improve to 8-4-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play, and will host conference opponent Franciscan on Tuesday afternoon.
