Ebensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team recorded a weekend split in non-conference competition as the Mounties defeated Waynesburg 6-3 on Friday before falling to Washington & Jefferson by a final score of 7-2 on Sunday.
In Friday's victory, the Mounties went up 2-1 in doubles play as Trent McErlane and
Aubrey Brown won 9-7 at #2 doubles and the duo of
Nick Centar and
Jalen Terry won 8-0 at #3 doubles. In singles play,
Matt Hample recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win at #2 singles. Brown was victorious 6-4, 6-1 at #4 singles and Centar and Terry followed with wins at #5 and #6 singles to clinch the match.
On Sunday, Mount Aloysius lost two close doubles matches as
Nick Goldyn and Hample fell 8-6 at #1 doubles before McErlane and Brown lost by the same scoreline at #2 doubles.
The Mounties registered both of their wins in singles play as Brown won 6-3, 6-4 at #4 singles and
Dylan Matta notched a 6-7, 6-2, 6-4 win at #6 singles. Goldyn, Hample and McErlane each lost in close matches at #1, #2 and #3 singles respectively.
The Mounties return to the courts next Sunday with a 1 p.m. home match against non-conference opponent Westminster.
