Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Steubenville, OH - The Mount Aloysius softball team lost game one by a final score of 4-3 before responding with a 7-4 victory in game two of a conference matchup with host Franciscan on Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, the Barons jumped out to a 2-0 advantage through two innings before the Mounties evened the game in the top of the third inning. Hannah Ruby brought home Courtney Link to make it a 2-1 game, then came around two batters later to score on a Franciscan error. The Barons regained the lead quickly with a run in the bottom of the inning to take a 3-2 lead.

In the top of the fifth, the Mounties again took advantage of a Baron error to tie the game as Caroline Showalter scored. Franciscan took the lead for a final time in the bottom of the fifth inning. In their final at-bat in the seventh, the Mounties put runners on first and third with one out, but a foul out and pop up ended the threat and the ballgame in favor of Franciscan.

Link went 2-for-4 with a run scored in game one to lead the Mounties offensively, and Morgan Rackish was handed the loss after allowing nine hits and two earned runs while striking out six in six innings of work.

Mount Aloysius got their bats going in game two as Hannah Simpson recorded a sacrifice fly to score Karly Klein in the second inning to get the Mounties on the board. In their next at-bat, Showalter lined a double that scored Link and two batters later Kate Little slugged a three-run home run to hand the Mounties a 4-0 advantage. Franciscan chipped away with one run apiece in the fourth and fifth innings to make it a 4-2 game, but the Mounties increased their lead to 7-2 in the top of the seventh on a two-run home run courtesy of Showalter. Despite two Barons runs in their final at-bat, the Mounties notched the victory.

Ruby earned the win in game two with a complete-game performance while allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Link, Showalter, Klein and Little each had two hits in game two to pace the Mounties.

The Mounties now stand at 4-8 in conference play and 13-15 overall. They will return to the field Friday with a non-conference doubleheader at Waynesburg set to begin at 3 p.m.
