Ebensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team split a pair of weekend conference home matches as the Mounties fell by a final score of 9-0 to Penn State Behrend on Saturday before defeating Pitt-Bradford by a final margin of 7-2 on Sunday.
In the loss to Behrend, the Mounties #3 doubles duo of
Nick Centar and
Dylan Matta came closest to victory as the pair fell by a margin of 8-6. The Lions controlled singles play on their way to the 9-0 sweep.
Mount Aloysius bounced back on Sunday as
Nick Goldyn and
Matt Hample got the Mounties started with a 9-7 victory at #1 doubles.
Trent McErlane and
Aubrey Brown were victorious at #2 doubles by a 8-2 count, before Pitt-Bradford notched a win at #3 doubles. In singles play, Goldyn won 6-4, 7-6 at #1 singles and McErlane recorded a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 singles. Brown (#4 singles), Centar (#5 singles) and
Jalen Terry (#6 singles) also registered wins to close out the team victory.
The Mounties now stand at 6-5 overall and 2-2 in conference play. They will return to the court Saturday with a non-conference matchup at St. Vincent at 5 p.m.
