Waynesburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team bounced back from a 4-0 game one loss to host Waynesburg University on Friday afternoon with a dominant 9-0 victory in game two of a non-conference doubleheader.
The Mounties recorded just four hits in the game one loss as
Karly Klein led the way with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate. Waynesburg scored a run apiece in the first and second innings to take a 2-0 advantage, and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings on their way to the victory.
Nina Shatzer was handed the loss after allowing two runs in three innings on the rubber, and
Stevi Confer came in to throw three innings of relief. Confer also allowed two runs.
Mount Aloysius took game two with an offensive explosion in the fourth inning. The Mounties scored all nine of their runs in the at-bat while registering eight hits. Mount Aloysius loaded the bases and
Hannah Simpson put the visitors on the board with a single that brought in Klein and
Caroline Showalter.

Morgan Rackish and
Courtney Link followed with RBI singles before Showalter came up later in the inning and lasered a double that brought in Rackish to make it a 6-0 ballgame. Klein then doubled to drive in two more Mounties, and Simpson finished up the scoring with an RBI single to elevate the Mountie lead to 9-0.
Simpson also earned the win in game two as she pitched four innings and allowed only one hit.
The Mounties are now 14-16 overall and return to the field on Sunday for a home conference doubleheader against Medaille. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
