Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius softball team took a 9-0 game one victory over visiting Medaille College before dropping game two by a final score of 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in a conference doubleheader.

Game one was highlighted by a five-inning, four-hit performance from pitcher Hannah Ruby. Ruby was aided by a strong offensive performance by the Mounties, who received a 3-for-3 performance at the plate from Courtney Link as well as a 2-for-3 showing from Emily Wawroski.

Mount Aloysius opened their scoring with a Wawroski RBI single in the bottom of the first, and led 3-0 after Leanne Cardoso-Bastos and Link struck for RBI singles in the second inning. Alexandria Teeter also provided an RBI sacrifice fly in the inning to increase the advantage to 4-0. The Mounties then exploded for five runs in the third inning highlighted by a Kate Little RBI double and another single from Link that drove in two Mount Aloysius runners. Ruby then allowed just one hit over the Mavericks final two at-bats to end game one via the mercy rule.

The Mounties offense continued in the beginning of game two when Teeter drove a triple into the gap to bring in Link in the first inning. Two batters later, Ruby brought in Teeter with a sacrifice fly to hand the home side a 2-0 edge. The Mavericks cut the deficit to 2-1 in the second inning and tied the game in the fifth. After the first inning, Mount Aloysius was only able to manage three hits for the remainder of the game, and Medaille added three runs in their final two at-bats to secure the victory.

Mount Aloysius now stands at 15-17 overall and 5-9 in conference play. They will return to the field on Wednesday with a conference doubleheader at La Roche beginning at 3 p.m.
