Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius College Women's soccer team had a thriller of a match on Sunday as the Mounties came back from deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 to defeat visiting Thiel College by a final score of 4-3 in overtime.
The Tomcats jumped out to an 2-0 lead in the second period with a pair of goals. The Mounties responded with two goals of their own scored by
Summer Schell on a penalty kick in the 66th minute and followed by a Cheyenne Kuncher goal off of a Brianna Byler cross in the 71st minute. With the match winding down, the Tomcats answered with another goal in the 76th minute before Kuncher evened things up once again off of a pass from Sam Torrenti with just under seven minutes remaining in regulation. The two sides then went to overtime.
With three seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Kuncher found a through ball over the top and found freshman Skylar Taylor, who found the back of the net just before the buzzer to give the Mounties the win.
With this win, the Mounties improve to 4-
2-
1 on the season, with an impressive 3-1 record on their home field. Mount Aloysius returns to the field on September 20th when take on Wilson College at home at 4 p.m.
