Erie, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team fought hard against defending conference champion Penn State Behrend but came up short by a final score of 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in conference action.

The Lions attacked early on but the Mountie backline held strong until a shot from the top of the box in the 22nd minute gave the home side a 1-0 advantage. Mount Aloysius had a chance minutes later when Katie Mirance took a strike from outside of the box but her shot was saved. Behrend increased the lead to 2-0 just before halftime as a deflected shot trickled into the back of the net.

The Mounties held even in shots in the second half with the Lions as both sides notched four shots apiece in the final 45 minutes. The home team added their final tally of the game in the 58th minute.

Sam Torrenti led the Mountie attack with two shots on goal, while keeper Leanne Cardoso-Bastos made four saves on the day.

The Mounties return to the field on Wednesday evening with a matchup at Penn State Altoona. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
