Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team split a pair of non-conference matches on Friday and Saturday. After falling by a 9-0 margin on the road to a strong Washington & Jefferson side on Friday, the Mounties responded with a 8-1 victory on Saturday at home against Lycoming College.
After dropping the tough matchup to the Presidents on Friday, Mount Aloysius responded by sweeping doubles play against the Warriors in their home opener on Saturday.
Nick Goldyn and
Nick Centar won 8-5 at #1 doubles before
Trent McErlane and
Dylan Matta took a 8-3 victory #2 doubles.
Christopher Godet and
Gavin Spellmeyer wrapped up doubles play with a 8-4 victory at #3 doubles.
In singles action, the Mounties were victorious at #1 through #5 singles. Centar won a highly competitive #2 singles match by a 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 scoreline. Goldyn (#1 singles), McErlane (#3 singles), Matta (#4 singles) and Godet (#5 singles) all won comfortably in their respective matchups.
The Mounties will return to the court on Thursday with an away match at Lancaster Bible College at 3 p.m.Â
