Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team fell in two conference matches over the weekend, as the Mounties were defeated 9-0 by Penn State Altoona on Friday before dropping a close 6-3 decision on the road at Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon.
Against the Lions on Friday, the Mounties had three very tight matches.
Dylan Matta and
Christopher Godet lost by an 8-6 scoreline at #2 doubles, while
Nick Centar (#2 singles) and Matta (#3 singles) both took their matches to tiebreakers in singles play before ultimately suffering defeat.
On Saturday against the Panthers, Matta and Godet again performed well and won a 8-3 decision at #2 doubles. In singles play, Matta won at #3 singles by a 6-0, 6-1 scoreline and
Gavin Spellmeyer took a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the #6 singles position.
The Mounties return to the courts on Thursday with a non-conference match at Waynesburg at 4 p.m.
